The Key

It all made sense to me yesterday. As I graduated from one level of nutrition, I would feel better and better and want to know more. As I advanced in my understanding, I noticed that the key to life kept getting smaller.

As I decided to give up processed foods and replace them with whole foods, I was taking a step towards less. Less packaging, less added junk like preservatives, additives, and definitely less burden on my body.

As I noticed my health improving, I became more interested in vegetables and less interested in ice cream and cakes. It seemed that the more I cut out, the less I wanted it.

As I moved into juicing, I found the power of vegetables---and I became enamored. The juice of these plants left my body renewed, detoxed, well oxygenated, and abundant in health. As I incorporated this new lifestyle, I watched others around me adopt this new level of appreciation for the healing nature of nature itself.

When I embarked on my most recent journey towards greater health, I found a love and appreciation for essential oils. Through my quest for health, I realized I was seeking out the most healing power of all. The essence of these plants contains molecules that can target specific problems and help heal them through their molecular structure and frequency.

As one would suspect, I dove deeper into this understanding, and once again found energy to be the healer.  Energy comes in all forms and frequencies. What our bodies need in particular, is a frequency that is greater than the “dis-ease” that is perpetuating within the body. This is the key to healing. Finding the vibration that can uplift one from the vibration of disease is the key to opening the door to health.

It is very clear to me that we have been provided with what we need to heal. It is our choice in whether we use meditation, energy healing, visualization, juicing, essential oils, laughter or something else.  Our path to health is paved with choices.

The Power of a Story

I recently attended Mary Ellen O'Brien's Raise Your Vibration workshop and it was fantastic!  I wanted to share with you what we did because it was so powerful. The only goal of the workshop was to, well--- raise our vibration!  Some of you may be wondering, what does that mean?  The best way of describing raising your vibration is to notice it's effects---you just feel good after you "raise your vibration"---  and things that needed to change in your life start shifting in a positive direction.

There are various ways to raise your vibration, such as meditating, running, or receiving energy work--- so I was curious what Mary Ellen was going to do with us.

It turns out---it was brilliant!  She had us remember a time in our lives when we felt really good.  I mean, reeeeallly gooooood.  You know those times where everything just seems to fall in place.  Where you feel unstoppable!  Where you think of something and it arrives momentarily---well maybe not the last one, but you get the picture.  Essentially you are in the "flow."

She had us relive that particular time in our life by having us tell a partner all the awesome coincidences and details that seemed to magically orchestrate themselves for our greatness.

The experience was amazing and very empowering!  Not only did it stir up incredible memories about when I received a free vacation at the beach with an ocean view, or found the perfect apartment over-looking the water, it made me realize how much I have to be thankful for.

My life is pretty incredible on a daily basis.  It's definitely something I'm aware of, but when you are told to unabashedly disclose the awesomeness that is your life, you can't help but smile and be overwhelmed with graditude!

As I basked in everything I was feeling, I took a moment to glance around the room and take in all that Mary Ellen had created with us.  I noticed everyone in the room was beaming!!!

The vibration of the room drastically changed from when everyone was first settling to their seats.  As everyone sank deeper and deeper into their stories the smiles across the room multiplied and it appeared people could hardly contain themselves!

It didn't matter whether you were telling your story or listening to someone's story---it was palpable how happy everyone was!  The room was buzzing with energy!

I'm so grateful for the opportunity to witness and be a part of so many people raising their vibration!  It was great to see them remembering what they are thankful for, and above all else, recognizing---without a doubt---there was some sort of divine hand in all that transpired in their story.

It turned out, many of the stories were based on people following their intuition---people doing things because it just "felt" right.  Many didn't know how things were going to work out when the began that particular journey, but something in them just trusted everything would work out fine---and it did.

If Your Income Is Variable...

If your income is variable you need to be careful your self-esteem doesn't mimic your cash flow.

With so many people's sense of worth coming from their wallets, it is easy to hop on the rollacoaster that has become our economy.  Anyone who makes their livelihood from the stock market, real estate market, or is self-employed is all too familiar with the ups and downs that not only marks the bottom line on their bank statements but also their mood.

This is a cycle that needs to be broken.

When self-esteem repeatedly fluctuates a person can develop a digestive disorder that can eventually turn into an autoimmune disorder.  I have seen this time after time in my practice.

Biologically speaking this is what is happening.  The stress from feeling scarcity triggers an adrenaline response, which causes your energy to be diverted away from digestion to the extremities (your arms and legs).  This is really useful if you are fleeing a saber tooth tiger, but not great if you are sitting comfortably at your desk watching the stock ticker.  This stress response inhibits the proper absorption of nutrients in our digestive tract.  Since the gut produces 90% of our immunity, we are left feeling emotionally and physically spent.

Lack of funds doesn't need to mean lack of self-esteem.  Gaining our self-worth in a non-materialistic way will help us weather the financial storm and leave us unscathed.

True happiness and self-worth comes from within---and that's exactly where it's supposed to be.  That way we don't have to worry about it being taken away.  It is not a material object subjected to the outside world's whims.  It is held safely in our hearts, ready to guide us to safety.

Engaging in activities that make us feel good about ourselves, such as volunteering or extending a compliment, we can build our fortress of self-esteem to unparalleled heights.

Foot-loose and Fancy-free!

Donating your stuff will not only increase the balance in your karma bank and likely put a smile on your face, it will also give you flexibility in life. I was talking with a friend who is giving up almost everything to pursue her dream. Kudos to her!  She has waited almost 40 years to manifest her dream career and surprisingly one of her main concerns is if she needs her enormous, ji-gundo green couch!

I simply told her, "No, don't be ridiculous!"  Thank goodness she's got a good sense of humor!

Since she is going to be living out of a suitcase for the next 6-9 months as she goes to school, it doesn't make any sense to keep it especially since she needs the money!

Plus, she wouldn't want to be in a position of saying, "I can't take that job/apartment/opportunity because of my couch."  THAT would be ridiculous.

So why is she so set on holding on to a couch she won't use for at least half a year?  A better question is, why do people hold on to anything?

The truth is, stuff makes us feel safe and secure.  When we really examine why we hold on to stuff, we find that a lot of that stuff is actually holding on to us.  Often we accumulate things, give them meaning, energy, time, and space, and then resent them when we lose our freedom to move foot-loose and fancy-free!  Some of us have even created debt to accumulate this stuff---and that's a double choke hold on our freedom!

Purge yourself of your "stuff."  I'm not suggesting you act like a monk or go sans everything including your underwear, I'm just suggesting you look around and think,  "What's holding me back from feeling free?"

Ultimately I think we all want to feel free to move when we feel inspired to do so.

Selling or donating your stuff will make you feel lighter and you'll be sending the signal to the Universe that you have enough--- which will be matched with you always feeling like you have enough!

Start off the new year by signaling that you have abundance and are ready to move with your intuition and opportunities!

Revolution

I needed to share this! I recently went to my first acupuncture appointment.  I know!  Totally surprising, but truthfully the Universe hadn't presented me with someone I felt comfortable doing this form of treatment.

The acupuncturist I chose is very in tune with other energy healing modalities (in addition to Traditional Chinese Medicine), and incorporates them into her practice.  Plus, we are exchanging services which is really an awesome benefit of being in my field.   Yeah for free massages and energy work!!!

I decided to experience acupuncture out of curiosity first and foremost, but also I wanted help getting to my "happy weight" ---the weight where you just put on your clothes and they fit perfectly and make you feel great.

Even though I'm really healthy according to my "numbers" attained through Western medicine protocol, I know I could stand to lose a few pounds, and I intuitively knew my metabolism needed an energetic boost (or a kick in the butt), so I elicited some help.

Per usual in a doctor's office, I filled out a lengthy questionnaire asking me detailed questions of my history, lifestyle and present symptoms.  She asked me about my diet, looked at my tongue (gross!), and felt my energetic pulses (what?!).  I don't know how she did this, but while taking my pulses, she could somehow tell I had an accident in my teenage years in my lower back (I broke my lower back when I was 16), and I had seen something scary in the last 24 hrs (I watched a scary show before bed---I almost never do that, because it disturbs me so much)!  Very much intriguing and impressive.

After a long discussion (about practically every detail of my life!--yes, she even asked me about my poop!) she surmised the purpose of the treatment was to treat a "damp," "heat" condition in my body---sounds nasty but it's TCM lingo.

What was interesting about this appointment is that she explained WHY I had developed a damp, heat in my body.  Apparently, I've created this condition through my intense desire to learn and so have started robbing energy from other areas of my body in order to fuel my insatiable desire for knowledge.  In addition, I am constantly "downloading" tons of source energy which overloaded my metabolism.  The combination of these two things and the fact that I'm often in Florida---hello sizzling heat and sticky humidity!---I needed some energetic adjustment.  Plus, she advised me about the foods I was regularly eating that were either contributing to or lessening my symptoms.  For example, she told me I was right on track with drinking Aloe Vera juice (score one for me!), and I needed to cut back on peanut butter because of the nature of the conditions in which it is grown (total bummer)!  But how interesting!

Right before the treatment, I asked her what was going to happen to me after the treatment.  Was I going to become disinterested in learning, or worse, dumb after the treatment?  I know that sounds ridiculous, but I just wanted to be clear.  Thankfully, my thirst for knowledge would be dialed down---not my intellect.

After that reassurance, I was ready to get rewired!

I knew I would be sensitive to the energy flow, but I didn't know how sensitive!

OMG!  After the insertion of the first needle (right between my big toe and 2nd toe), a wave of energy looking exactly like a blue ocean wave, glided up my body, nearly lifting me off the table!  The wave seemed to find it's resting spot somewhere in my lower back on the right side.  I immediately described what I felt and she remarked, "That's exactly where the energy was supposed to go---to your right kidney."  Whoa!

Then she did it on the other side, this time it was if a red lightning bolt shot up my leg, branched off a my left kidney and proceeded up to my head.  This was exciting!

With each insertion of a needle I could feel some sort of release in my body and not at the direct site of insertion.

One of the last needles placed in my body was to "drain" heat from my body.  I had no idea that this particular placement was supposed to do that, but sure enough, I immediately experienced an internal shiver.  I couldn't believe how quickly and effectively each needles' placement was.

As if that wasn't cool enough, in the middle of the treatment I opened my eyes and could see the whole room filled with tiny white balls of energy bouncing off of each other, and all the electronic equipment in the room started to buzz!  I was even able to control the loudness of the buzzing with intentional releases of energy from my body!  The more I released, the louder it got!  So amazing!

As for how I felt after the treatment?  I felt great!  I felt relaxed and I could tell that I was slightly disinterested in research and food---very interesting.   I also felt lighter---so much so I thought I might have dropped some weight the very next day.  The scale didn't register a difference but maybe my body will catch up to how I'm feeling.  Either way, I'm happy with the results.

I can't wait for the next treatment!

Say

So we’ve established a connection between emotions and illness--- but can emotions be a predictor of cancer?

According to Bernie Segal, a cancer doctor and surgeon for over 40 years, the answer is yes.  The connection is so strong that a psychological questionnaire is often a better predictor of cancer than a physician’s physical exam!

Let’s first take a look at the biology of cancer.  It is well understood that oncogenes play a role in cancer.   An oncogene is a gene that contributes to converting a normal cell into a cancer cell.  If these genes were the only predictor of cancer, patients would develop tumors throughout the body simultaneously---but this is not the case!  There is usually one area that has psychological significance to the patient where the cancer forms.  This is called the target organ (Love, Medicine, and Miracles pg. 90).

The link between cancer and emotions has been known since 1926 when Elida Evans did the Psychological Study of Cancer and found emotional loss---is---a---predictor---of--- cancer!   More recently, Marjorie and Claus Bahnson developed a questionnaire that is 88% accurate in assessing for cancer and another researcher was able to pick out malignancies based on patients perceived hopeless and recent emotional loss.

Doesn’t this all sound familiar?  Isn’t this very similar to the question of why don’t we get sick all the time if we are constantly exposed to germs?  What’s causing us to be more susceptible to illness more than other times?

It’s because our thinking strongly influences our biology!  Did you know it's possible for a person under anesthesia, to change her heartbeat from 130 beats per minute to 85 beats per minute on command!!!

What’s so wonderful about these revelations---mind over body---is that it has lead many people to survive what is deemed a terminal illness!  Dr. Bernie Segal understood this mind body connection so well that he formed ECaP (Exceptional Cancer Patients) to provide a therapeutic environment to confront the psychological issues most cancer patients face.  This support group often lead to personal change, healing and hope.

These patients had to do the dirty work.  They rolled up their sleeves, looked at the unhealthy patterns in their life and changed them.  Sometimes it meant leaving a spouse, changing careers, or voicing their concerns to family---but it saved their life.

They didn’t rely on something or someone outside of them to “fix” them.  They took responsibility for their emotions and how they were manifesting in their bodies.  They listened to their bodies.

Doctors can minimize discomfort and cover up wounds--- but what people need most is hope---to give us the confidence to go within---the place of true healing.

A Moment Like This

Life is like a filmstrip. Each moment is a snapshot in time.  Those snapshots race past us so fast it gives us the illusion of fluidity--much like a filmstrip does.  Many of the great philosophers and gurus suggest living in the now--- appreciating the moment because it is ever fleeting and created perfectly for you--- by you.

In expanding the concept of life as a filmstrip streaming towards you, each photograph is dependent on the previous photographs---because it is creating a story.  Therefore it is your choice to choose the type of movie that is your life.  Do you want a Drama, a Comedy, a Suspense, a Horror, a Chick flick--or do you want a combination of some, none, or all of these?  It’s your choice!

Choosing to be fully aware and conscious allows us the opportunity to create what we want.  Each action chosen is leading to the next photograph or frame.  If you continue to choose positive thoughts and actions, you will receive positive thoughts and actions.  All that we are is the result of what we have thought (Buddha).  This is the Law of Attraction.

So if you happen to find your life in chaos--- similar to a Horror flick, you can stop the tape.  Stopping the tape is like meditation.  It is in this stillness that one can review the photographs that make up the filmstrip---rearrange the sequence, replace or remove photographs and so forth.  It is in this space that you are in perfect alignment for all the wonderful things you want to attract.  It is also a space where healing can take place.  Things of the past may be reviewed and cut from the lineup because they no longer serve the storyline.

Visualization is another tool to aid you in creating your storyline.  Just as there are endless opportunities to create the most perfect movie, there are endless opportunities to create the movie that is your life!

What’s even more beautiful about creating your movie is that you are being assisted along the way.  God is like the reel that contains the photographs.  Your experiences are constantly being held in the hands of Grace and you are infused with a sense of knowing which photographs should stay or go.

Lastly, what makes a film come to life is the light behind the strip.  This is the light within you--- your spirituality.  The brighter your light, the greater the clarity you will bring your filmstrip and others---making it a blockbuster.  Sit back, enjoy the movie--you’re in good hands.

Chasin' the Sky

Meditation.  There.  I said it.  It seems like a dirty word-- doesn’t it?  I know when I first started meditating I was wondering how I would calm my mind.  It use to take me about an hour and a half to fall asleep, now--about 11 seconds.

Realizing your mind is something you can control is a daunting yet powerful concept.  Many of us are not up to the challenge.  Many of us don’t have time, can’t do it, and we don’t know how to do it.  But!  Meditation creates time!

Research has shown meditators, on average, regardless of age, visit the doctor half as often as the average American!  Meditators also had 87.3% fewer admissions to the hospital for heart disease, and 55.4 % fewer admissions for benign and malignant tumors of all types--the two leading causes of death in Americans!  You can’t get results like these from prescription drugs!

Meditation specifically aids in lowering blood pressure and cholesterol--which helps avoid a heart attack and stroke.  According to insurance companies, blood pressure levels prove to be a good indicator of life expectancy.  An average American with normal blood pressure is expected to live 16 years longer than one with moderate blood pressure.  Meditation has proven to help people drop from moderate blood pressure to normal blood pressure--giving the gift of a longer life!  Incredible! (Perfect Health, Deepak Chopra, pg. 164-167)

That’s not all!  Mediation aids in weight loss, brain function, immune function and reversal of the aging process!  Plus its been shown to help you find your life’s purpose!

Many wonder how long do you need to meditate a day?  Well, Dr. Oz believes all it takes is 7 mins a day to receive the benefits of meditation. Making the commitment to meditate is the most important step in receiving the benefits.  I can pretty much guarantee that once you dedicate the time, you will want to do it more.  It just feels soooooo good.  The inner peace is wonderful.  After mediation I feel calm, content, and happy--all pretty great feelings.

Many people don’t know how to meditate, and that’s ok.  Meditation is about working with your brain waves.  When doing an activity we are really familiar with we go into “auto-pilot.”  Running, brushing our teeth, and driving a car long distances are all examples of this.  Parts of the brain slip into Theta waves during these activities.  Maintaining Theta waves is the goal in meditation.

A beginner meditator should find calming music, focus on breathing (the out breath is particularly relaxing), and be gentle with yourself.  Meditation isn’t easy.  Just as you would train your mind to play a sport, the piano, or learn a language, you need to develop the neural pathways for meditation too.  The more you practice anything, the better you get at it because you are reinforcing the neural pathways (the connections that send information around the brain and through the body).

If you can’t stop the one million thoughts from bombarding your brain it’s ok.  In time, you will learn to set these thoughts aside. This method is described as non-directive meditation because you are developing the ability to “tolerate the spontaneous wandering of the mind without getting too much involved”--meaning you don’t have to make the mind blank! You just need to learn how to let thoughts “pass effortlessly” (Brain Waves and Meditation, ScienceDaily Mar. 31, 2010).

While "meditation is painful in the beginning... it bestows immortal bliss and supreme joy in the end” and worth the try (Swami Sivananda).

The Prayer

This time of year is beautiful!  It’s a time for reflection, granting wishes, and a time for sharing moments.  For some, this time of year can be a struggle--both financially and personally.

If you are someone who is finding it difficult to give monetarily, I have something to share with you.

The power of prayer.  Large scientific studies have confirmed both prayer and distance healing to have a greater effect than chance.  In a study published in 2001, a group of mothers in a fertility clinic in Korea were divided into two groups.  One group was prayed for and the other was not.  These prayers were sent over great distances (from the USA, Canada, and Australia) from people of all religions and cultures to the fertility clinic.  This effort resulted in nearly doubling the amount of pregnancies from in vitro fertilization in the group that was prayed for.  The pregnancy rates went from 26% to 50%!  No one even knew who was being prayed for in the clinic until the study was completed.  Incredible! And there are several other studies that support the power of prayer and intent! (The Human Antenna, Dr. Robin Kelly pg. 74)

What we are talking about here is energy!  Everything is comprised of energy--including thoughts!   Scientists have discovered (from EEGs) that our brains emit different frequencies of waves.  They are Alpha, Beta, Delta and Theta.  Each brain wave serves a different purpose in our life.  We learn in Beta, we sleep in Delta, we meditate in Alpha, and we transcend in Theta.  Quantum physicists are discovering that the Theta waves are linked with the feeling of Oneness.  They have found that this is the state that energy healers, psychics, mediums, and experienced meditators are in when they are sending and receiving universal information.  We know, from scientific research that waves continue endlessly through time.

This holiday season, wrap your thoughts in positivity and know that you have positively effected those near and far--and eternity.  What could be better?

You Are Not Alone

You are not alone.

If there was only one thing I could convey to you, it is that you are not alone.  You are constantly being guided.  It can be very hard to believe at times but I assure you-- you are not alone.  If there is ever a time when you feel you you need help, please ask the Universe (God, Allah, whomever you believe in) for help-- and then listen.  Often times we are too busy to wait for an answer and so we think that our prayers are not being answered.  We also have a preconceived notion about what form our answer or guidance should come as.  Please be open to everything.

You are being guided in various ways.  The key is to always be listening.  Guidance will come through friends, family, situations, and things. I have seen this so many times, that I no longer believe in coincidences.  I call them synchronistities (and I’m not the only one) because guidance from the Universe is all about timing.  Guidance will come relentlessly.  It is in the timing of your listening and being ready to hear the message that will make all the difference.

When I first started out on this journey to energy medicine I was pretty clueless as to what direction I should go in.  So I began by reading several books based on the scientific evidence of psychic phenomenon (cool!).  I read a book about 5 or so famous mediums who were put through a series of tests to prove their ability to talk to those who have crossed over.  I was particularly impressed by one medium called John Edward.  Reading about his gift made me wonder about what mine might be.

At the time I finished this book, I found myself at a school fundraiser with many donated books for sale.  Being on a budget, I hoped I could find the perfect book-- and I did.  While perusing the plethora of books, I glanced down and saw a John Edward book right there!  When I looked at it, I knew there was a message inside it to me.  I quickly opened the book and looked at the inside cover...nothing.  Hmmm, maybe it’s on the last few pages.  Nothing.  I decided to take home the book anyway and thought I was silly for thinking a message for me was somehow embedded in the book.  Maybe the message is in the text of the book, but that didn’t seem right either.  It really felt like there was a message for me specifically.

Weeks later, I was sitting on my couch reading his book and decide to get a cup of coffee.  I place the book down and out falls a note!  At that point, I actually freaked out.  This is what the note said:

Dear Amy,

This is not your gift.  It is coming in the mail.  We have subscribed to John Edward’s newsletter for you for a year.  Hope you have a wonderful year!

Ellen and David

Holy--moly--is--right!  You are probably thinking I made this up!  But I didn’t!  I promise.  The amount of things that needed to be orchestrated in order for me to receive this message is incredible.  Amy (whomever she is) had a birthday, Ellen and David decided to give this book (which they felt wasn’t enough for Amy), so they decided to write a note, Amy decided to donate the book with the note in the book, I decided to attend the fundraiser, look for a book, listen to the message of guidance about this book, buy the book, read the book and find the note.

You may be thinking why didn’t the Universe present the note right away when I looked for it?  It’s because I wasn’t ready to hear the message.  I needed to buy the book to learn from his work and get a better understanding of his gift.  Only then was I ready to learn that mediumship isn’t “my gift” and to not assume the form that the guidance should come in.

In the course of my time working in the spiritual realm, I have learned, without a doubt, the Universe has got my back.  Knowing that help is always available should bring some relief.  I hope this example inspires you to take notice and listen--I think you will be as amazed as I have been.

Answer

So you may have heard of the Law of Attraction from me, Oprah, or the Secret.  Either way, it’s a term that has made it into mainstream and is causing a lot of mixed emotions.  Some are relieved to have found the “answer” while others have tried it with no avail.  So what is the Law of Attraction exactly? And how do you use it?

The Law of Attraction states that like attracts like.  The best way I have heard it describe was when my friend Gemma (thanks Gem!) said the Law of Attraction is like ordering a burger at a diner.  You tell the waitress what you want exactly (grilled bun, medium-well, ketchup, mustard, lettuce, and pickle).  After the waitress leaves your table you resume a conversation with friends and low and behold 20 mins later your burger comes out exactly as you wanted it!  Perfect!

The same types of feelings you have in generating your burger are the same you should have when asking the almighty Universe for a red Porshe.  When you order your burger at a diner it is very likely that your burger is going to come out great, so it’s easy to believe you will get it.  Why is that belief important?  In order to activate the the Law of Attraction you have to believe that it is possible for you to get it.  You also have to know exactly what you want.  Often times in life we are not sure of what we want, so things don’t manifests the way we want them to.   I remember when Elizabeth Gilbert, in Eat, Pray, Love wrote about George wanting an “open heart,” and ended up having open heart surgery!  Or when a friend of mine said she wanted to “fall in love in 2010” and did-- only to have it unrequited!  The more you are sure of (exactly) what you want and believe you can have it, the more likely it is going to come to you.

Once the waitress leaves your table, there is no anxiety (or shouldn’t be!) that she is going to deliver the message to the cook and eventually get your burger to you. There shouldn’t be any anxiety about receiving the object of your desire either!  Essentially, anxiety is screaming out (energetically) I need to control this!  I might not get this!  I won’t get this!  That energy is so catastrophic to this recipe of desire!  The energy that is being emitted into the environment is going to bring back exactly what is sent out (remember like attracts like). Oops! Sometimes we as humans also have feelings like we don’t deserve something, which also keeps you from receiving.

So how does this relate to energy medicine and the body?  Taking a step back and looking at the energy of the body will help explain the relationship between energy and the Law of Attraction.  Remember Bruce Lipton and his experiment with a cell without a nucleus gravitated towards the nutritious apple?  That experiment taught us that every cell in the body has the ability to sense the environment (it is sending and receiving information).  So if there is a thought of anxiety, it carries a frequency, and that frequency will be sensed within the cell and communicated to the next cell, and the next cell, and the next cell!  Until you literally become a ball of anxiety!  Have you ever noticed “when it rains, it pours?” --Like when you are having bad day and it just seems to get worse!  Change your vibration and it will stop raining!

So how do we do that?  To start off, filling your mind with positive thoughts and feelings is a great way to immediately change your vibrational status.  The Secret, offereda great tip of placing a “Gratitude” rock in your pocket.  Every time you touch the rock, you should say something you are thankful for.  This exercise both releases soothing hormones and gets you in a more relaxed (parasympathetic) state.

Additionally, filling your body with high vibrating foods such as organic fruits and vegetables and exercising the body will help safe guard a fall from a higher vibrational status.  Also, meditating, massage, and energy work will do the same--how surprising!

If you are still not convinced that your thoughts are this powerful, consider the study done at Princeton University that was done on the ability to influence Random Event Generators (REGs).  Scientists started noticing a phenomenon where groups of people who share a ticket are more likely to win the lottery. This study gathered several people, told them to try to influence the REGs and they did!  This study has been repeated thousands of times with thousands of people and yields statistically significant results (Human Antenna, Dr. Robin Kelly, pg 76).  There is strength in numbers!

Did you hear about the study that looked at crime in Washington, D.C.?  This study had subjects meditate on peace in Washington, D.C. for a 8 weeks.  The rate of violent crimes dropped 23% in the 8 week period!  The odds of this result occurring by chance are less than 2 in 1 billion. Scrupulous statistical analyses ruled out an extensive list of alternative explanations (Social Indicators Research - Volume 47, Issue 2, June 99).

I hope this gives a whole new meaning to, “I think, there for I am.” ~René Descartes.

Cleanin' Out My Closet

It feels great to do spring cleaning.  We donate clothes, tidy up and the house feels amazing!  It is lighter and cleaner.  According to Feng Shui, when we do this we are getting rid of stagnant energy which allows for more prosperity to flow into our life.  Who doesn’t want that?!

Our bodies also benefit from spring cleaning. When I work on a client I clear out unnecessary energy from the chakras and balance them, but I also feel energetic imprints on the energetic body.  So, what are energetic imprints?  They are imprints (like a fingerprint) that are left on your energetic body when we experience something emotionally.  The emotion becomes part of us if the body does not process this emotion fully.  Western medicine would suggest talking about the emotions and releasing them that way.  I find this method falls short especially when someone is not aware of a feeling they are having.  We have an unbelievable ability to suppress emotions and feelings. In fact, many scientists and psychologist are finding out that the mind is much more powerful than we ever thought!  This type of healing is more multi-dimensional.

As I’ve discussed in earlier blogs, the emotions translate into the body on a physical level through the release of hormones, but they also translate into the energetic body through imprints.  I see these imprints and can feel how they manifested.  Essentially, each imprint has an emotional component.  For instance, I might feel an imprint and it is related to a divorce that happened 12 years earlier.  I also may feel a nasty break up that is so intertwined in the energetic body that is so large, it is pressing on the chest (hence the feeling of “having a weight on your chest,” or “having to get something off your chest”).  What I do for clients is remove these imprints.  You are probably thinking, how is that possible and does it really work? Well let me explain...

In acupuncture and acupressure, the purpose of the treatment is to get the energy flowing around the body in it’s optimal way.  Chinese medicine is based on the theory that the body has major meridians (like highways) that supply energy to various parts of the body.  If one of these meridians becomes blocked, subsequent areas of the body (such as organs!) will be receiving less energy--yikes!  Additionally, what is cool about Chinese medicine is that major intersections of these meridians corresponds to major overlappings of muscles in the body.  Just like a car sitting in the middle of an intersection slows down or stops traffic, so does blocked energy in the meridians!

When I am working on a client I often find emotional energy trapped in the armpit area and chest.  Interestingly, these are major intersections of muscles, but also the lung meridian points are in this area which also corresponds with the heart chakra.  (Remember, the heart chakra is related to love and grief.)  Also, part of the lymph system is here as well (but I’ll explain why that’s cool too in a minute).  So when I am working in this area, I am working on three different levels, which is why people are so sensitive in this area.

Energetic imprints in these areas look like a dense, gray cloudy matter in the shape of an oval or a bean.  They usually are attached to the body by a cord, and can be connected to other similar imprints.  Basically, they look very similar to the lymph nodes that sort through the toxins in your system and keep you healthy.  The cool thing about this is that you have another system to help keep you emotionally healthy (thus physically healthy)!  This energetic system catches these floating emotions that have not been fully processed by the heart and mind.  What’s interesting is if there is a build up of these energetic imprints (aka “emotional baggage”) in the armpit area and chest, the person can feel sick, lethargic, and depressed. If there is a build up of toxins in the body the person can feel sick, lethargic and depressed too!  Very interesting!

When I have found an energetic imprint that is no longer serving a client, I discuss what I am feeling, ask them to validate the feeling, and ask for permission to remove the energetic imprint.  Usually, people want the imprint removed (not always! we like what is comfortable for us! it’s like an old ratty shirt you can’t part with).  At that point, I literally take the energetic imprint off the energetic body to be recycled into a more useful energy (energy cannot be created or destroyed). Upon removal, many times a client will cry, sigh, or sob and can feel me removing the energy.  Often it is described like feeling tugging on the body and can feel uncomfortable.  What you should understand is, I am not actually touching the body at this point.  All sensations are coming from the energetic body!

Amazingly, my clients report feeling lighter, and energy flowing better in their bodies.   It is the emotional release with the energetic release that provides that maximum benefit for the client.  Many of my clients report wonderful life changes occurring in the few days following the removal. That is because the energy is no longer stuck in their body and they are now vibrating on a higher level-- which brings me to the Law of Attraction...
